Did you know the Local HERO (Helicopter Emergency Response Organization) Foundation is a vital charity making a life-saving difference in the Wood Buffalo region since 2013?

Over 500 critically ill or seriously injured patients have been flown to a higher level of care. Local HERO is the only Helicopter Emergency Medical Service serving our region and operates in partnership with the Regional Emergency Services of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB).

Local HERO is on standby 24/7 with a fully equipped medical-interior twin engine helicopter and responds to dispatch calls from Emergency Services. All our missions are rural scene calls, often in remote areas inaccessible by ground ambulance. Local HERO always flies with two RMWB Emergency Services paramedics on board. Local HERO saves lives, by saving time.
