HERO IN FLIGHT: Local HERO Foundation’s Signature Spring Fundraiser Lifts Off with Exciting Changes
FORT MCMURRAY, AB – The Local Helicopter Emergency Response Organization (HERO) Foundation is proud to announce an exciting new evolution of its annual signature fundraiser, now called HERO IN FLIGHT, presented by Suncor. This year’s in-person event will shift to an exclusive Sponsor event, while also expanding community engagement through our online storytelling, marketing, and the Speed of Life Community Campaign.
Since its inception, Local HERO’s fundraising events have brought together hundreds of community members, corporate sponsors, and dedicated supporters, ensuring HERO1 remains mission-ready at a moment’s notice. However, as our community continues to evolve, so must we.
HERO IN FLIGHT will launch with an intimate gathering of sponsors and annual donors on May 3, marking the beginning of a multi-week engagement campaign. From May 3 to June 6, we invite the entire community to follow the HERO IN FLIGHT Moments of Impact online video premier series, share inspiring stories, and take part in the Speed of Life Community Campaign. This initiative allows people across the region to donate at any level and connect with the life-saving mission of HERO1.
“Suncor is proud to continue as the presenting sponsor of HERO IN FLIGHT. It’s crucial for our community to have access to lifesaving care when it’s needed most. This evolution enables support for the Local HERO Foundation in new and meaningful ways, ensuring this service remains available to all 24/7,” said Andrew Rosser, Senior Vice President Operations Syncrude, operated by Suncor, and Local HERO Board Director.
A longtime supporter of Local HERO, TUCCARO Group has returned as the Platinum Sponsor, reinforcing their commitment to emergency medical services in rural and remote areas.
“At TUCCARO Group, safety is at the core of everything we do. We recognize the critical role HERO1 plays in ensuring timely emergency response for workers, families, and those living in our rural communities. We’re proud to support this essential service and encourage others to join us in keeping HERO IN FLIGHT,” said Dave Tuccaro, Founder, President, and CEO of TUCCARO Group.
With this new format, HERO IN FLIGHT will continue to raise critical funds needed to keep HERO1 in the air, while also embracing the power of digital engagement to connect even more people to the mission.
“We are adapting because we know that the strength of our community lies in its ability to evolve. HERO IN FLIGHT allows our supporters to contribute in a more impactful and meaningful way,” said Lorna Ash, Executive Director of the Local HERO Foundation. “Whether through sponsorship or the Speed of Life Community Campaign, everyone can play a role in saving lives, by keeping HERO IN FLIGHT.”
