The good times are about to roll at the Local HERO Foundation’s Mardi Gras in May

(Fort McMurray, AB – April 17, 2019) – With less than three weeks to go, the Local HERO Foundation is preparing for what will be an epic evening to remember on May 4, at Shell Place.  Mardi Gras in May, presented by Suncor, will be the party of 2019 – the evening includes a gourmet, chef-inspired Louisiana menu with Cajun and Creole dishes, performances by award-winning musicians, The Retrofitz and a variety of Mardi Gras games that will have guests decked out in beads in no time.

Each year, the Local HERO foundation hosts its annual fundraiser the first weekend in May, in support of 24/7 dedicated helicopter medevac services. “The monies raised through Mardi Gras will provide the majority of the funding for life-saving flights in our region this year,” said Paul Spring, Chair of the Local Hero Foundation.  “At last year’s Cinco de Mayo party we launched the Speed of Life Campaign, equating one hour of life-saving medevac services to $1200 in flight costs. Throughout the evening, generous attendees committed to supporting those 100 hours of life saving missions over the year, and that support went a long way in covering our costs for 2018.  This year we are thrilled to expand on our Speed of Life Campaign, and hope to see the number of hours increase,” continued Paul Spring.
